Scented Candles Set a Mood and Help You to RelaxDo you feel stressed out at the end of the day? I know I sure do! And there is nothing better than drawing a nice warm bath and soaking in it to wash away the stress. Recently, I have found that by adding some scented candles to the bathroom, I can decrease my stress even more. This is an added benefit to an already relaxing part of the day. Scented candles work on the principle of aromatherapy. The scent in the candles triggers certain responses in the brain that release chemicals in the body. Certain scented candles, like peppermint, release chemicals that stimulate the brain and body. Other scented candles, like lavender and chamomille, release chemicals that relax the brain and the body. I personally like the smell of lavendar. So while I am running the water for my bath, I will light several scented candles with a lavender scent. The candles provide a beautiful, warm glow to the room while the smell of lavender relaxes me. Scented candles come in hundreds of different scents and strengths. Depending on the size of your room, you can pick different strengths. My bathroom is very small, so I chose scented candles that weren't too strong. This way I can light several of them and not be over-powered by the scent. If you have a large room, you can find some more powerful scented candles. Scented candles also make wonderful gifts for that special someone. If you know someone who is stressed out all the time, buy them a scented candle with a relaxing scent to help them unwind. |
