A Diamond Band for Your Special Wedding Day

When I got married many years ago, there wasn’t much thought about wedding bands. Men just wore a plain gold band; women could wear a fancier gold band. Today, that has all changed and diamond bands are now the current trend. And the new diamond bands are spectacularly beautiful. Imagine a beautiful gold wedding band in either white or yellow gold, ringed with diamonds.

There are several different styles to choose from when selecting your diamond band. You can get a diamond band with the diamonds going partially around the band. This choice is usually a little less expensive. The other option is to get a diamond band with diamonds going all the way around the entire band. These are typically much more expensive than the partial diamond band. However, one downfall to this type of wedding band is that they can’t be resized. A diamond band where the diamonds don’t go all the way around can be resized. So if you think that your ring size may change, you may want to consider a diamond band where the diamonds don’t go all the way around.

There are many choices for the style and cost for a wedding diamond band. As in any ring with diamonds, the size, color, and clarity all affect the final price of your ring. The cut of the diamond will affect the price as well. A very popular style of diamond band right now is the princess cut diamond in a channel set. This is a band with a channel in the center that goes all the way around the band. The diamonds are cut in a square or rectangle shape and set in the channel. White gold adds to the shine and glitter of this diamond band.

When shopping for you diamond band, remember that this is an investment for a lifetime. You want to start your married life out on a good foot. So be sure to get an accurate appraisal from the jeweler. Then, take photos of the diamond band and send a copy of the appraisal and your photos to your insurance company. You may have to buy additional supplemental insurance for your new diamond band, but the cost to replace the lost jewelry would be prohibitive compared to the meager cost of insurance.

Care for your diamond band

Make sure you have your diamond band checked annually by a competent jeweler. In fact, the jeweler you purchased your band from may offer a free annual checkup. If any loose stones are found, it is imperative to have your diamonds tightened. You don't want to lose any diamonds out of your diamond wedding band.
