Every catalog has them - sometimes tons of them. Stores display them on their mannequins. Entire websites are devoted to them and to how to dress them up for any occasion or make them more casual. Black dresses can be found virtually everywhere. It is the one outfit that almost every female owns. Some women own several of them. No matter what kind of party or event you are going to, black dresses will almost always be suitable. They are in style in the summer or winter; they never seem to go out of style or not have a season. They are appropriate for funerals, weddings and even dressing for work.

Black dresses have always been in style, only changing their shapes and lengths in more recent years. Many famous women and political figures throughout history have been photographed in black dresses. Some of Princess Diana's best photos show her in very stylish black dresses. No matter what your status is in the world, black dresses are appropriate. With some accessories and careful thought, you can make them even dressier or appear more casual.

Black dresses are becoming more and more popular for attendants' in weddings. Some brides choosing to have an evening wedding favor fancy black dresses to help set the evening mood more and to vastly contrast the white of their own gowns. Some brides, however, find it in very poor taste to have black as a part of their important day. As a wedding guest, wearing black dresses has become very common.

Black dresses have remained popular throughout the years. In fact, some of the styles that used to be worn in the 1950's could easily be worn nowadays and people wouldn't even bother to question it. Some things have definitely changed quite a bit throughout time but black dresses seems to be untouchable. The children growing up in today's world will tell their children the same story - that black dresses never seem to go out of style. The main variable with black dresses is the pricing. Large chain stores such as Target have some wonderful black dresses for very reasonable prices. Other stores such as Saks and Victoria's Secret also sell black dresses but for much higher costs. Depending on what you are comfortable telling people about where you shop, most of the dresses at the expensive stores can be found in the less expensive stores. Sure, they don't have the same labels sewn in or the excitement of saying how much you spent on a dress, but you shouldn't have to spend a fortune in order to attend an event or simply go to work. As long feel like a fortune.

Don't try to be someone you're not. Make up your own fashion ideas and don't copy someone else's style because you want to be "cool". Those television shows are great for the person they are making over...but that person isn't you! Find what works for you and make it your style!
