Las Vegas Land of the Wedding Chapel

When you think about a wedding chapel, you immediately think about Las Vegas, Nevada. Afterall, Las Vegas is famous for the wedding chapel. One of the reasons that there are so many wedding chapels in Las Vegas. In the state of Nevada, it is very easy for any ordained minister to perform a wedding.

From the Nevada state website itself:

"Any licensed or ordained minister in good standing within his
denomination, whose denomination, governing body and church, or any of them, are incorporated or organized or established in this state, may join together as husband and wife persons who present a marriage license obtained from any county clerk of the State, if the minister first obtains a certificate of permission to perform marriages as provided in this section and NRS 122.064 to 122.073, inclusive."

So anyone with a ministry license (even from the internet) can perform a marriage ceremony in a wedding chapel in Las Vegas. You can also have a Justice of the Peace perform the ceremony.

But why are there so many wedding chapels in Las Vegas? Because so many people get married there! The reasons are many and varied, but here are several reasons why people seek out wedding chapels in Las Vegas:

1. No blood test.
2. No waiting period.
3. Marriage License Fee is ONLY $55.00. (Fee does not include a certified copy of the marriage certificate which is available for an additional $10.00.) Fee is payable by cash, cashiers check, money order, Visa or Mastercard. Applications are good for one year.
4. Anyone 18 and older can be married; parental consent not needed but proof of age is required.
5. l6-17 years old can be married but either parent must be present or a notarized affidavit giving permission is necessary
6. A Witness other than minister is required at marriage ceremony. (Chapels will provide a witness.)
7. If you were previously divorced, divorce must be final where granted. Date, city and state where divorce occurred required, but it’s not necessary to furnish divorce papers.
8. Out of country residents, the same rules apply to you, nothing additional is required to marry. You do not need a marriage license from your country. Driver’s license, or passport is acceptable for identification.

So the reason is clear why to use a wedding chapel in Las Vegas! Viva Las Vegas the land of (sometimes temporary) love!
